Our Story

Applejacks was founded in 2007 by a Mum, with a huge passion for healthy food, who couldn’t find places (when out and about) to feed her daughter. She identified a niche in the market for health conscious parents, who don’t want to feed their kids un-nutritional food, empty calories and poisonous fizzy drinks.
When real frustration set in, Áine set up her Healthy Eatery/Juice & Smoothie Café. She used fresh ingredients, real oranges (most juice bars don’t) and organic yoghurt, (most smoothie bars use frozen yoghurt with tons of additives). The children’s menu was fresh fruit salad, eggs on toast, home made soup, freshly made organic pancakes. It was a real hit. Parents came to Applejacks and showed genuine surprise at the offerings for their children. As it was a very small premises, it soon became quite crowded!! There were always lots of buggies outside and kids inside… and so the story began… In 2014, due to family commitments, Applejacks had to close. The locals and loyal customers were heartbroken and for months afterwards pined for it to re-open.
Áine realised that a bigger premises was needed and has been working on re-establishing Applejacks in a bigger and better way ever since.
Applejacks Mission Statement is:
Healthy Choices, Happy Bodies, empowering children to make their own informed decisions about what they eat and drink.
Applejacks endeavours to make healthy eating fun, and colourful whilst educating both children and parents alike about setting healthy choice patterns early in life. This will be sustained throughout adulthood, and will promote a healthy and happy life!
Recently Áine had gained a Certificate in Nutrition and has also qualified as a personal trainer. She is waiting to do an add-on course in Exercise with Children, and in time, hopes to combine healthy eating with exercise in over-weight children.
Áine is passionate about informing parents and children about the toxic chemicals and harmful substances being marketed and sold to children for profit. The corporate giants don’t care about obesity, cancer, heart problems, joint problems, they only see the bottom line…the money!
How much is your childs health worth? They are what they eat…
